# Claude Code Manager > Free, open-source VS Code extension that turns everything Claude Code keeps on your machine — sessions, usage and quota, accounts, MCP servers, skills, commands, hooks, agents, plugins, checkpoints, prompts and memory — into one searchable sidebar. 100% local, no telemetry. Claude Code Manager reads the files Claude Code keeps in ~/.claude/, ~/.claude.json and a project's .claude/ folder, and shows them as 12 sidebar tabs in VS Code and VS Code-based editors (Cursor, Devin Desktop/Windsurf, Kiro, VSCodium and others that install from Open VSX). It works with the Claude Code CLI and with Anthropic's official Claude Code extension: sessions from both appear in one list. It has no network client and collects no telemetry. The opt-in Quota card reads Claude Code's own statusline data from a local cache file; it never calls Anthropic. Account profiles keep a local, plaintext copy of each saved login's tokens in ~/.claude/manager-accounts/. It is an independent project, not made by Anthropic. Facts: free, Apache-2.0, version 2.19.0. 2,353 VS Code Marketplace installs and 64,722 Open VSX downloads at build time. Install ID `vishalguptax.claude-manager`. Independent project, not affiliated with Anthropic. ## Features - [Sessions](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/sessions/): browse, full-text search and resume every Claude Code session (CLI or official extension) by project and git branch; fork, pin, archive, rename, export/import .jsonl or .zip, restore several at once. - [Usage & quota](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/usage/): token usage by model, project, tool and MCP server over 7 days, 30 days and all time, an activity heatmap, and an opt-in Quota card plus status-bar item showing the 5-hour and 7-day limit percentages from Claude Code's own statusline data (cached locally). Cost is an estimate at public API rates. - [Account switching](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/accounts/): save the signed-in Claude account as a profile and switch between profiles without /logout and /login; swaps only the login identity and credentials (macOS Keychain or ~/.claude/.credentials.json); profiles keep a local plaintext copy of tokens in ~/.claude/manager-accounts/. - [MCP servers](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/mcp/): lists MCP servers from every .mcp.json up the folder tree, ~/.claude.json and plugins; enable, disable, add, edit and delete them without editing JSON; masks secrets; flags servers that need re-authentication; add from a bundled catalog of 16 servers. - [Skills](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/skills/): lists skills from ~/.claude/skills, the project's .claude/skills, plugins and claude.ai-synced skills with scope badges; open SKILL.md, launch Claude with a skill, or delete one. - [Slash commands](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/commands/): the Commands tab lists Claude Code's built-in slash commands with descriptions, plus custom commands from ~/.claude/commands and .claude/commands and plugin commands; open the file or launch the command into Claude Code. The page includes the full built-in list. - [Hooks](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/hooks/): lists hooks from user, project and local settings with the full command; toggle (disabled hooks are kept), edit, delete, or add with a wizard (scope, event, matcher, command). The page lists every hook event the editor offers. - [Agents](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/agents/): lists subagents from ~/.claude/agents, .claude/agents and plugins with model badges and descriptions; create, edit, duplicate and delete agent files. - [Plugins](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/plugins/): shows installed plugins and whether each is enabled per scope, flags mismatches (an enabled plugin from a marketplace your policy blocks, a settings entry with nothing installed), enables/disables per scope, and installs from added marketplaces by running claude plugin install in a terminal. - [Checkpoints](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/checkpoints/): lists the file versions Claude Code saved in ~/.claude/file-history/ per session; diff any version against the file on disk and restore it (with a confirmation). - [Prompt history](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/prompts/): full-text search over every prompt in ~/.claude/history.jsonl across all projects; repeated prompts collapse into one row with a count; copy a prompt or open the session it came from. - [Memory](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/memory/): browse, search, open and delete the auto-memory Markdown files Claude Code writes per project (~/.claude/projects//memory/), with broken-link and orphan detection. - [Settings](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/config/): edits Claude Code settings at user, project or local scope (model, effort, thinking, output style, permission mode, sandbox, allow/deny rules, additional directories, attribution, cleanup period, auto-compact, checkpointing, auto memory); snapshots settings before every write; export/import a whole setup. ## Guides - [Where sessions are stored](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/guides/claude-code-session-history/): where Claude Code stores conversation transcripts (~/.claude/projects//.jsonl), the cleanupPeriodDays sweep (default 30 days), resuming with --continue, --resume and /resume, and moving a session between machines. - [Usage limits explained](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/guides/claude-code-usage-limits/): what Anthropic documents about the five-hour session limit and weekly limits on Pro and Max (shared between Claude and Claude Code), checking usage with /usage and /status, and the rate_limits fields Claude Code passes to the statusline. - [The ~/.claude folder](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/guides/claude-code-folder/): a map of the files Claude Code keeps on disk (~/.claude/settings.json, ~/.claude.json, projects/*.jsonl, history.jsonl, file-history/, skills/, commands/, agents/, plugins/, .credentials.json) and project files (.claude/settings.json, settings.local.json, .mcp.json), with settings precedence. - [Disable an MCP server](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/guides/disable-mcp-server-claude-code/): how to turn off a Claude Code MCP server without removing it (the /mcp panel or /mcp disable, stored per project in ~/.claude.json), remove one with claude mcp remove, and how enabledMcpjsonServers/disabledMcpjsonServers differ (approval of project .mcp.json servers). ## Editors - [Cursor](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/editors/cursor/): Cursor installs third-party extensions from Open VSX; search Claude Code Manager in Cursor's Extensions view. Resume into the official Claude Code extension returns to Cursor via its own URI scheme. - [Windsurf / Devin Desktop](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/editors/windsurf/): Windsurf has been renamed Devin Desktop; it downloads extensions from an Open VSX mirror by default, where Claude Code Manager is published. Anthropic's docs name Devin Desktop as a fork the official Claude Code extension installs in. - [Kiro](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/editors/kiro/): Kiro uses https://open-vsx.org as its extension marketplace by default; Claude Code Manager installs from there. Anthropic's docs name Kiro as a fork the official Claude Code extension installs in. - [VSCodium](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/editors/vscodium/): VSCodium's pre-set extension gallery is Open VSX; Claude Code Manager installs from it. Suited to telemetry-free setups: the extension has no network client. ## Comparisons - [vs official extension](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/compare/claude-code-extension/): Anthropic's official Claude Code extension is the chat client (with session history, /usage and a Customize panel); Claude Code Manager is a sidebar for the files Claude Code keeps on disk, adding account profiles, checkpoint diff/restore, prompt-history search, memory browsing, settings snapshots and usage breakdowns. They are designed to run together. - [vs ccusage](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/compare/ccusage/): ccusage is a widely used CLI for Claude Code usage and cost reports (daily, monthly, per session); Claude Code Manager shows usage breakdowns and the 5-hour/weekly limit percentages inside VS Code. ccusage is better for scripted and terminal reports. - [vs claude-swap](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/compare/claude-swap/): claude-swap is a Python CLI for switching Claude Code accounts, including automatic rotation on rate limits; Claude Code Manager switches saved profiles from VS Code alongside usage and quota. claude-swap is better for terminal-only and automated rotation. - [Claude Code GUIs](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/compare/claude-code-gui/): a fact-based roundup of graphical tools for Claude Code: opcode (desktop), Claude Code UI / CloudCLI (web and mobile), Nimbalyst (desktop, formerly Crystal), the official VS Code extension, and Claude Code Manager (a VS Code sidebar). ## Links - [Install from the VS Code Marketplace](https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=vishalguptax.claude-manager) - [Install from Open VSX](https://open-vsx.org/extension/vishalguptax/claude-manager): the registry used by VSCodium and several VS Code-based editors - [Source on GitHub](https://github.com/vishalguptax/claude-code-manager) - [Changelog](https://claudecodemanager.vishalg.in/changelog/)
