anthropic.claude-code

Claude Code Manager and the official extension

They do different jobs. Anthropic's extension is where you talk to Claude. Claude Code Manager is a sidebar for everything Claude Code leaves on your disk. Most people who install one keep both.

The short version

Anthropic's Claude Code extension is Claude Code inside VS Code: you chat, review diffs, approve plans and run sessions there. Claude Code Manager doesn't talk to Claude at all. It's a sidebar for the files Claude Code leaves on your machine — every session, prompt, file backup, setting, skill and login — across the CLI and the extension. Install the official one to use Claude Code; add this one to manage what accumulates.

Official extension features from Anthropic's VS Code docs, read 2026-10-11. A dash means the docs don't describe it, not that it can't be done some other way.
